My boyfriend (he’s one of those dreaded cis-male types) and I recently had a 12-hour layover (11 hours too long) in this fetid, depressing city. It proved hilarious and repulsive all at once.
To describe Seattle as “repressively crunchy” would be an understatement. Obvious heroin addicts roam the streets along with patchouli-drenched earth mothers, psychotically angry leftists, and the Starbucks baristas who evidently make up approximately 85% of the workforce.
After we got off the plane, the taxi line that awaited us was GLORIOUS. Every. Last. Taxi. was….wait for it…..a Prius. A giant, state-regulated row of Prius taxis.
This was going to be FUN.
On the way into town, we were greeted with the sight of the largest Gay Pride rainbow flag I’ve ever seen in my life flying atop Starbucks headquarters. This has now replaced the American flag, because it’s Pride Week (or month, or century) and DAMMIT, YOU WILL BE TOLERANT.
Every other corporate storefront also blared RAINBOW FLAGS every five feet. Because, as we all know, gay people don’t merely want to be tolerated anymore—they want to be highlighted, feted, and celebrated! Tolerance is no longer enough: it’s an overbearing ubiquitousness. YOU MUST ACCEPT. To merely “tolerate” means you’re a bigot in need of re-education.
Our first stop was at Pike Place Market, where we witnessed an extraordinarily heightened level of leftist propaganda. Not content to ask us filthy humans destroying the planet to recycle or chuck garbage in the bin, the Purveyors of Smug reminded everyone they were putting garbage not merely in a can—but in a landfill. Starbucks (and there’s a Starbucks every 50 yards in Seattle) continued the browbeat in every bathroom with “You and Starbucks: It’s Bigger Than Coffee.”
Also reminding us every waking second that Seattle is vibrating with hatred for conservatives were the “Trump is Hitler” posters, stickers, graffiti, and tiny mints sold in commemorative “Impeachmints” tins. (Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure George W. Bush was Hitler. Or was it Reagan? I forget.)
One of the most delicious stops of our day was at the appropriately named Left Bank Books, which bragged in posters on its windows they were the “official” Seattle headquarters of Antifa and would immediately expel (violently if necessary) fascists, #BuildTheWall goons, capitalists, right wing bigots, anyone speaking against the LGBTQXYZ community, or rube Christians preaching belief in Jesus Christ.
One wonders if this angry, openly Communist bookstore:
- accepted money for their goods
- asked each patron to contribute according to his ability to pay
- distinguished amount of payment charged to protected classes (minorities, womyn, The Transitioning, Native Americans, prisoners, atheists, Wiccans) and white men
- placed locks on their doors at night
and
5. deposited money each evening into an imperialist bank account?
One wonders.
To be sure, Seattle has its share of fantastic. We loved the Big Wheel, the Chihuly glass sculpture garden, the Jim Henson exhibit at the otherwise dull and overrated Museum of Pop Culture, and ate probably the best Mediterranean food of our lives at Café Paloma. We walked a ton, thought the Space Needle was overpriced and overhyped, and enjoyed mocking liberals in their natural habitat.
Then came our purchase of the Seattle Times. We knew beyond any doubt it would be an eye-rolling, wild ride, and praise the Lord, it didn’t disappoint.
The Seattle Times rivals the New York Times in its hyperbolic, aggressively-biased leftism. In between alleged “hard news” stories lamenting how evil cops shot another defenseless black mother, to celebrating the castration of the police by removing genuine law enforcement tactics needed to keep communities safe —and in, particular, minority communities — we came across this Mea Culpa gem.
Enter: the self-hating, self-flagellating Nicole Brodeur, a columnist for the Seattle Times. Evidently, a week earlier she had written a straightforward article about the transitional (read: in the process of white gentrification) Columbia City neighborhood which had a recent shooting. She attempted to focus on the positivity of how the neighborhood was being revitalized because more businesses were moving in, and renovation of a once crime-ridden area was starting to turn itself around.
Simple, right?
Oh, you racist bigot—how wrong you are.
No sooner had Nicole penned her rather innocuous column did the Social Justice Warrior Brigade spring into action, mercilessly lambasting her and calling her article “racist” and “lazy”—because how DARE an evil white woman comment on crime in a black neighborhood, and congratulate said neighborhood for attempting to begin to get its act together.
For her transgression, the self-appointed Arbiters of Racial Outrage figuratively dragged her by her red neck for suggesting it might be a good thing for more businesses to develop in Columbia City, and for true diversity to take hold.
And she was dragged HARD. One of my favorite smacks comes from Verified Person of Color Sharon H. Chang, who, in response to Nicole’s article wrote: “‘There seems to be a sense that Columbia City was broken and people-of-color centered that made it less valuable than other parts of the city,’ she said, adding that it’s only seen as less of a crime area now because more white people have moved in.“
The entire column is a thing of head-shaking, insane beauty, but the solution to the racial terrorists of Seattle seems not to be more ACTUAL diversity, as Columbia City attempted to initiate, but rather segregation and a denial of reality about crime rates in minority communities.
She attempted to “bridge the gap” and understand her inherent racism by meeting with so-called “community leaders” (read: Race-Hustling Rage Stokers), but was met with indignation.
Instead, Nicole was urged to take a workshop called “Undoing Institutional Racism” offered by the People’s Institute Northwest (very Leninist, congrats). BUT!!! All classes in King County AND Portland were FILLED THROUGH THE REST OF THE YEAR! Apparently there are lots of White Devils seeking to learn how to un-White Devil themselves.
Although Nicole is, unfortunately, white, she is also a cis-female, which entitles her a small commutation of her sentence. Had she been a white cis-male, she would have been summarily shipped off to her nearest Re-education Center, instead of attending a mere workshop.

Although side-splittingly funny to normal people, these diabolical, often violent leftists mean business. While projecting their actions onto those conservatives they despise, they haven’t the slightest understanding that the novel 1984 they are now championing applies to them far more than it could ever apply to us (with examples too numerous to list here).
This disturbing—albeit hilarious—reprimand and figurative public stoning of Nicole Brodeur is merely the latest in a long line of progressive fascism.
President Trump is threatened with violent assassination daily by celebrities and Twitter miscreants. Republicans have been literally shot in an attempted mass murder; the would-be assassin was found with a GOP hit list containing names of Freedom Caucus members. Trump supporters are regularly verbally and physically attacked. Hate and anger on the Left has become its own cottage industry.
Although leftists call every Republican president “Hitler”, the level of vitriol for Donald Trump has eclipsed even the worst of Bush-hatred—and boy, did they hate George W. Bush.
Why has Seattle—and the Left–become so unhinged? They will cite the usual bromides: Trump is a fascist. Trump hates women, gays, and minorities. Trump only cares about the rich. Trump wants to wipe out Muslims. Yawn and etcetera.
The reality—and deep down, even leftists must admit it—is that Trump and his supporters want to see substantial change in the Deep State and the Washington D.C. bureaucratic swamp.
We want Obamacare demolished and the free market to reign. We want corporate and individual tax cuts to spur industry. We want a big, beautiful border wall built. We want all welfare ended for illegal aliens (this includes health care and schools). We want a robust but smart foreign policy. We want the immediate expulsion and/or non-entry of Muslim radicals/terrorists/sympathizers. And we want myriad other policies that will put America back on the track of sanity.
And perhaps, most of all, we want the divisive scourge of identity politics chucked into the (ahem) landfill of history.
Seattle, with its #Resist mentality, thinks they are winning. They think a grimy, sad, depressing, angry, hyper-diverse, drug-addled city with an openly Communist political philosophy is something most of America wants to embrace. It is not. If Trump ever decided to smash the monopoly of Amazon and Microsoft, the pot party would be OVER.
But shhhh—-don’t tell Seattle that. It’s far too enjoyable to mock them—and then beat them into submission at the ballot box.
